Privacy

This is a personal portfolio site. It runs one analytics tool and nothing else. No advertising, no trackers beyond that, and nothing is ever sold or shared for marketing.

What is collected

The site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits. It records which pages were opened, which site or search you arrived from, your browser and device type, and an approximate region. IP addresses are anonymised before they are stored, so the full address is not kept.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell one visit from the next. They are named _ga and _ga_ followed by a property identifier.

Who else can see it

Google processes the analytics data, and Google also hosts the site through Firebase Hosting, which keeps ordinary server logs of requests. Nobody else receives anything.

If you get in touch

The contact page links out to a form hosted by Google. Nothing is embedded here, so that form only receives anything if you choose to open it and submit it. What you write there goes to Google and to me. Emailing directly is the alternative, and that reaches only me.

Either way, what you send is kept so I can reply to it, and used for nothing else.

What does not happen

Your information is not sold, rented, or handed to anyone for advertising. There are no advertising pixels, no social media trackers, and no embedded third-party players on any page. No profile is built about you.

Turning analytics off

Blocking cookies for this site in your browser settings stops the analytics cookies. Most content blockers and privacy-focused browsers already block Google Analytics outright. Google also publishes a browser add-on that opts you out everywhere, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

The site works exactly the same either way. Nothing here depends on being measured.

Asking about your data

You can email me to ask what is held about you, to have it deleted, or to ask anything else about this page. Write to joey.caughey@gmail.com and I will answer.

Changes

If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated.
